Established by Dr. Jayant Lele to celebrate the contributions of his father-in-law, Dr. Claude Hibbert Vipond (Meds '44) to International Development, as a physician in Malaysia, Malawi, Tanzania and Haiti. Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence to a student who has completed the third year of the Development Studies Program, to facilitate participation in the work-study placement program (DEVS 410).
